TAKE OUR MATTRESS QUIZ

getting the right soft mattress

Sandra Wilkie asked
28th January 2016

We have a silent night mattress at the moment which I feel is very uncomfortable. I am not getting a proper sleep. I have arthritis in my spine and problems with my legs. We have only had the mattress for two years but it is causing me more pain. It is a medium but I would like a soft mattress. Please could you tell me if pocket springs are better for a soft mattress and do less springs make a mattress softer. I will be very grateful for any advice you can give me. Sandra.

Hi Sandra,

I am sorry to hear that your reasonably young mattress is causing such problems. The primary consideration when advising on the most suitable mattress for someone, with or without back issues/arthritis, is the body weight(s) of the person(s) who will be sleeping on it. For that reason, at present I cannot confirm whether a soft mattress is suitable for you. The number of springs can make a difference in the feel of a mattress, but it may also be affected by the tension of the springs.

The correct spring tensions is dictated by the individuals body weight(s)

BodyweightSpring tension
Upto 16 Stone / 50-101kgMedium (1.4mm)
16 Stone / 101kg UpwardsFirm (1.6mm)
Available in Bespoke Products (Please Call)Soft (1.2mm)

In order for us to provide guidance and advice as to the most appropriate product for you from our ranges,  please call our office on 0161 437 4419 to advise your body weight(s) and provide any further additional information, which may assist.

Kind regards,
Amy.
