18 stone arthritis and 6 foot tall mattress advice

We need a new mattress for our wooden bed with a slatted base. I am about 17 – 18 stone, 6 foot tall and have advanced arthritis and so I find it hard to turn over if a mattress is too soft. Tempur mattresses are definitely no good for me as when I tried them in shops, I couldn’t move or get out of bed at all due to my arthritis! We would also be too hot on Tempur mattresses as we are both quite ‘warm’ people. We prefer pocket sprung mattresses with a fairly firm feel.
My wife is about 13.5 – 14 stone 9 and 5 foot 8. She gets bad back pain once every year or two due to an old injury and very hard mattresses give her back pain but she likes a firm medium or slightly firm mattress. She also likes pocket sprung mattresses.
We both sleep on our sides but sometimes wake up on our back. I’d prefer a mattress which is all one tension. We need a king size mattress that can be delivered in less than a week if possible. We would prefer to pay no more than £800. We usually go for 1500-3000 springs. We bought a feather and black tension 8 mattress a few months ago but it is too hard for my wife’s back, she’s waking up with bad back pain every day and I urgently need to get a new mattress. This time we need good advice, we’re desperate to find a quick solution and with all your expertise, I’m really hoping you’ll be able to help.

Hi Mark,
Given your body weights and prefered feel, I would recommend our Origins Pocket 1500 Zip and Link mattress with 1500 springs on one side to give your wife the correct level of support and 2000 springs on the other for yourself. The Artisan Naturals is a similar feel in the comfort layers which are constructed with 85% natural fibres and in this mattress, I would also recommend the zip and link option with a medium/firm spring tension. From what you have said your current mattress is both in the spring tension and the comfort layers.
All our mattresses are made to order and the Origins range take approximately 3 weeks to delivery and the Artisan range approximately 4 weeks dependent upon location (certain areas of Scotland are the exception).
With regard to the mattress you have from Feather & Black, have you spoken to them with regard to it’s suitability for your requirements and asked if they are prepared to change it for a more suitable product? This may result in a more timely solution to the problem.
