TAKE OUR MATTRESS QUIZ

£3000 mattress has developed a hump in it!

Hi, we bought a superking bed approx. 4 years ago from Paul Simon, it is their Princess 3000 from their Elegance collection. We assumed that as we paid almost £3000 for it that it would be quality and would last us for several years. We did not realise until several weeks after we bought it that we could not flip the mattress, something I had been used to doing with my old bed. Eventually the mattress has developed a large hump down the middle and instead of getting roll together my wife and I find ourselves sleeping on the edge of the bed and almost rolling off. We have tried several mattress toppers over the years, at great expense, to try to resolve this issue but still find ourselves waking up in the morning feeling like we have never slept with aching backs, shoulders and hips.
We have finally decided to surrender and purchase a new mattress. We have been looking on your site and think that a zip link mattress may be a solution. I am 6 foot and weigh over 19 stone and my wife is 5 foot and weighs 11 stone.
Our divan base is still perfectly sound and we are not looking to change it but would like a new mattress. Please could you recommend a superking zip link mattress to suit us both. We can be flexible on budget to ensure we get the right mattress.
Many thanks

Hi Kevin,

Unfortunately you appear to have fallen into the trap of assuming that for a high price you get quality and this may have blinkered you to the fact that your purchase was a one sided product.

Ideally, this ought to have been pointed out to you at the time of purchase, but clearly wasn’t. A zip and link set of mattresses would be the ideal solution for the weight differential and I would suggest for you a firm tension and for you wife a medium tension, although this is open to personal preference.

If your base is in good order there is no need to replace it, although you will need to advise if it is a platform top or sprung base.

We can only supply the split tension option in our Artisan range and I would suggest that you view these on our site and then call our office on 0161 437 4419 to obtain more specific advice as to the suitability of your choice(s).

I trust that this helps.

Kind regards Mike.
