Hi Debra,

Thank you for your enquiry.

The spring counts disclosed in most product descriptions usually apply to a standard king size (5ft wide x 6ft 6in long) and are proportionally higher or lower dependent the size selected. In a standard king size mattress, 1000 springs are usually sufficient to provide enough support for people of average body weight, which we would suggest is between 10 and 15 st. Your body weight is what would dictate the spring tension as this needs to selected so as to provide the correct level of support. Too soft or too firm can cause sleep issues and result in aching backs and joints. The comfort in a mattress is provided by the upholstery and is different in different models.

BodyweightSpring tension
Upto 16 Stone / 50-101kgMedium (1.4mm)
16 Stone / 101kg UpwardsFirm (1.6mm)
Available in Bespoke Products (Please Call)Soft (1.2mm)

Our Origins range have a standard medium spring unit with different amounts of man made upholstery providing the comfort. The Artisan range can have the spring tension selected to suit in soft, medium or firm and contains layers or predominantly, natural upholstery, which can affect the price as natural upholstery is more expensive that the man made alternatives.

We trust that this helps, but if you require any further advice or guidance, please call our office on 0161 437 4419.

Kind Regards.
