A firm mattress for a bad back?

Stacey asked
9th August 2014

Hi guys A friend has recommended your website as I am looking to purchase a new mattress. I have ordered a bed frame from a high street department store, it has slightly sprung slats and is a kingsize. I am 5’7″, weigh around 56kg and usually fall asleep on my front, but wake up on my back!

I have a firm mattress at the moment and find this very uncomfortable!

I have a budget of approx £1000 but am a little hesitant to buy such a purchase online. Perhaps you could give me some suggestions which mattress might be suitable for me?

And what mattress this might be comparable to in a store so I can get an idea of what it will be like. Many thanks Stacey

Hi Stacey,

Given your weight, preferred feel and budget I would suggest you look at our Artisan Naturals mattress, and although this is slightly outside your budget, represents excellent value for money and contains natural fibres.

At your body weight you are borderline between a Soft and Medium spring tension to get the right support. If you prefer a bit more give then choose the Soft tension but for a bit more support choose the Medium.

BodyweightSpring tension
Upto 16 Stone / 50-101kgMedium (1.4mm)
16 Stone / 101kg UpwardsFirm (1.6mm)
Available in Bespoke Products (Please Call)Soft (1.2mm)

This mattress is comparable to the Vi-Spring Regal Superb, which can be tried in stores such as Furniture Village, Harrods, House of Fraser or And So To Bed.

I hope this helps but if you do have any further queries please don’t hesitate to contact our office on 0161 437 4419.

Kind Regards, Lee.
