Advice about Salus mattresses

Jackie asked
8th June 2010

Hi We have just been to a shed that sells beds (if you catch my drift) We have fallen for a Salus mattress. Pocket sprung (1500) with a memory foam top. The sides were supported with reflex foam (?) The size we are looking for is a double. We live in Stoke-on-Trent Junc 16 off the M6. Hope you can help?

Hi Jackie.

Thank you for your enquiry, I have just responded to a similar question and requested that the price and specification can be supplied for comparison. As a general point of note for all readers, try not to get too attached to a brand name but try to break down the mattress by component.

In this case, The Salus 1500 Memory is fundamentally a 1500 pocket sprung unit with a 70mm memory foam comfort layer. This consists of a FEPS (Foam Encapsulated Pocket Spring) unit consisting of a 1000 PS with a part layer of (500) mini springs (The 2000 model incidentally has a full layer of mini springs 1000 +1000) The detailing, fabric and finish on all Salus mattresses are admittedly high end and so the compromise on any alternative or comparable models will have to be taken into account. As I have mentioned previously the price asked for these mattresses are in the main rather high for a combination of pocket springs and memory foam but – the quality of finish is superb.
