Advice needed on Silentnight mattress deal at Argos
Hi, I am looking to buy a mattress and have up to €1000 to spend for a king size bed. Was looking at the ‘Jolene’ Slientnight at argos for €579 from €1679!!What are your thoughts on these beds as it seems like a good deal. I was also looking at ‘The natural sleep company’ as they are a local product (dublin) but really unsure which mattress to buy. We like a med-firm mattress and other than that i am not sure as to the comfort difference between foam/spring?
I sleep on my stomach and my wife on her back, at present i wake with pins and neddles and more often than not also with dead arms. If you could PLEASE give me advice that would be great as my back is in bits due to our old sagging mattress and my job as a firefighter. Thanks a mill. From the symptoms you describe it very much sounds like pressure point pains meaning that the mattress isn’t right for you.
You being a front sleeper need to avoid anything too soft in the top layers as this will cause an unnecessary arch in your back. Therefore your preference for a Medium / Firm feel should be fine based on your sleeping habits.
Our spring tension guidelines are below;

Where we struggle is that most retailers don’t disclose how they construct so we can’t draw any comparisons or offer any advice.
Usually, you’re best comparing at least 3 models to give benchmarks.
When considering a new mattress there are a number of points to consider. Please see our article here for further information. It comes down to your body weights, sleeping habits and preferred feel in the top layers.
We have 2 pocket sprung ranges ourselves; Our Origins and Artisan range. The main difference here is that the Artisan range has natural fillings in the construction; Ideal for anyone who identifies as a hot sleeper. Natural fillings also last longer as standard so as such as the guarantees generally increase.
Ultimately you won’t know if the mattress is right for you until you’ve slept on it for at least 4-6 weeks. Any new mattress will come in feeling firmer to start with as the spring system nor the fillings have been compressed.
