Advice for a side sleeper

Lewis asked
7th March 2016

Hi,
I am a side sleeper, so i guess a medium feel mattress is what i am looking for. I have been advised that a foam layer on top will give more of a sinking feeling which is better for a side sleeper. The best feeling mattress i have tried is the temper cloud, which seemed to support me in whatever position i was lying, just the right amount. Unfortunately, the temper is very much out of my price range (which is up to about £700), so i have been looking at alternatives. At Bensons, the mattress that felt best to me (in my price range) was the Sensaform 6000 in medium (3 by their scale). I am also looking at the sleeping duck mattress as they have a very attractive 100 day return policy, and your Origins Pocket Latex.
I do have a couple of concerns over these products though. First is quality, which is really what has brought me here as you guys clearly know how to make a lasting mattress. The second is the foam top. I do like the immediate soft and luxurious feel of foam tops, but i do sleep hot. Does a mattress that offers the sinkage required for a side sleeper (13 stone), luxurious feel of softness in general, but that also allows sufficient cooling within this price range?
p.s. also, what is the difference in feel between your latex origins, your fully latex beds, and your Artisan 1500? Is the artisan so good that its feels as nice as the origins with a latex top? considering my specification, i still don’t have much of an idea as to what might suit my needs best, even when its just the range offered here..
Thank you

Hi Lewis,

Thank you for your question.

I am not able to provide an opinion as to the quality, performance or a comparison for the products not made by us. This is because the published information regarding the construction and components of these products is limited. What I can say is that the Origins Pocket Latex 1500 will not feel like any of the other products mentioned. It has a springs/” title=”pocket spring”>pocket spring unit with an upper layer of Talalay Latex, which will provide someone of your body weight a medium feel. It is also one sided.

John Ryan By Design Origins Latex
1300 gsm Wool Silk blend pad
23cm Talalay Latex (60/40% blend) 70kg Density
33cm Talalay Latex (60/40% blend) 70kg Density
4One inch HD Foam
51500 Spun Bond Pocket Springs

The latex mattresses in our Fusion range are made from 100% natural latex which feels entirely different to the pocket sprung latex product and are double sided, providing for better longevity. Latex, as you probably know, can be quite firm, but will provide a sink feeling and then return to shape much quicker than the foam products and is quite cool. Unfortunately, the products in this range are outside the budget you have indicated.

The Artisan 1500 has a combination of natural and synthetic upholstery, which cannot be compared to any latex product in terms of feel, but like the contemporary range, is above your budget . I am assuming that you are looking for a double mattress and would also suggest that you view the details of the Origins Pocket 1500, which will provide a medium feel at your body weight.

I hope this helps but should you need further advice please give the office a call on 0161 437 4419 to speak to a member of our friendly team.

Kind regards,

Amy.
