Any Physical Outlets / John Ryan By Design Beds on Display?

Mitt asked
3rd January 2016

Hi Marie,
Happy New Year, though I know your offices aren’t open till the 4th Jan, the question I wanted to ask when you get back to the offices, is are there any actual JohnRyan outlets, that have your beds on display and can be tested? I know you sell direct to consumer, and have a return/refund guarantee on your beds, but I’d still like to try the different varieties of beds you have on offer, before making a purchase.
The mattress criteria I’m overall looking for is:
*medium-firm to firm.
*Something which will provide good comfort, but still be supportive enough for keep spinal be
alignment.
*I understand that “Warranty/Guarantee” and “Comfort Life” can or do mean two completely different things by many in this industry, and that the top layer materials/fillings are most likely to fail, before the springs ever do. So an example of a 10Yr “warranty/guarantee” actually could mean “Comfort Life” of possible 6-8 years (or even way less for poor builds in my current case)
So Im looking for a mattress to have at least a “Comfort Life” of 5-7 years.
(obviously with good user care, I.e turning mattress if required by mattress spec’s etc)
*My Main concern would be from the usual “dip in the bed” you see after just a year or two of use even though you’ve followed the “turn or flip” guidelines for care, where myself and probably many others have been succumb to, from previous purchases, even though that outlay for me was close to nearly £2000, (hugely disappointing & a expensive learning curve)
Thank you for taking the time for this query,
Kind Regards,
Mitt.

Hi Mitt,

Thanks for your query.

We don’t have any outlets, showrooms or trial areas.  It’s because we don’t have the overheads of such premises that we can keep our prices down.

I’m afraid settlement of some degree will always happen to a mattress and the only way to reduce it is to turn it monthly to even this out.  You shouldn’t however settle for settlement that is lumpy bumpy or extreme if you follow this maintenance Mitt.

What we always advise if that if you don’t know where to start with mattresses and want to try some out then why not visit local furniture stores or bed retailers to try a huge array of different mattresses first.  Then when you whittle down your selection to a handful make a note of the names to bring back to us for any potential comparisons.  We offer a number of similar comparative models.

If however you have read the article on why trying a mattress first is completely unnecessary then you can use our advisor recommendation service to get a tailored model without al the fuss and stress of trekking round retailers.

Without your weights and budget I’d be hard pressed to provide any such tailored recommendation just yet.  However based on your question, if you look at the Artisan Bespoke as a starter for ten, which is quite firm in the top layer, reducing your worry about any settlement somewhat but can be made with a medium spring tension.  We can then either recommend a bed at a lower budget or something more suitable based on your weights and heights.
