TAKE OUR MATTRESS QUIZ

Artisan 1500 mattress, topper or protector?

Gillian Ward asked
21st September 2017

Hello
We bought an Artisan 1500 superking ziplock mattress from you last year which is wonderfully comfortable, my husband & I have both got rid of any backpain since using it. We have always used it with a thick wool filled topper which we are finding annoying due to the shift in filling. Is it necessary to have a topper with the Artisan 1500 or would a topper suffice? If so, what do we look for when choosing a topper?

Good Morning Gillian,

Thank you for your question.

I’m very glad to hear that you’re getting on wonderfully with your mattress.

In regards to a topper, there is no actual need for anyone to use one.

A mattress topper is used predominantly to protect a mattress but will also soften down any mattress that is too firm.

As such if you are thinking that it isn’t necessary then simply use a mattress protector instead and it should stop that “shifting” sensation you are currently finding.

There are no set criteria to follow when looking for a mattress topper; Comfort is very subjective and personnel from one person to another. A mattress topper can completely alter the overall sensation of a mattress so it’s definitely worth researching.

Our topper range consists of Laygel Foam, Coolblue Foam or Latex. Laygel is the softest feel, Coolblue is very medium and Latex is the firmest that we offer. However, our ranges are very medium feeling overall. A topper effectively will add another layer of comfort to your mattress so it’s very dependent on what you yourself are looking for from that feel.

I hope that this has answered your questions fully but if you do have any further queries then please don’t hesitate to contact me on 0161 437 4419.

Kind Regards, Lee.
