Artisan Bespoke 002 vs 004
Hi there,
I am close to ordering a new mattress, but am slightly torn between the Artisan Bespoke 002 and 004 models. I have been unable to find the comparable Vispring models locally to try out. Having searched through previously answered questions on the topic, it seems most customers are steered towards the 004. I was hoping you could elaborate on why this is generally recommended over the 002.
I was able to test a Vispring Kingsbridge mattress which similarly has the two layers of springs. I did find it very comfortable for the minutes I was on it, but is difficult (impossible) to know how suitable it would be to sleep on for several hours a day for several years.
If it helps to answer the question, I am 5’7″, 12 stone and the mattress will go on a solid slatted base which I shall cover with hardboard.

Thanks for your excellent question, it does cause debate when comparing a single row of pocket springs vs double springs. Hopefully, this answer can help you and anyone else looking to review which out of the Artisan Bespoke 004 and the Artisan Bespoke 002 is more suitable for them.

The main difference is the spring unit. The Artisan Bespoke 002 is much more lively than the Artisan Bespoke 004 making it slightly softer in over all feel. It’s more responsive due to the two layers of springs. It’s our most complex mattress in terms of construction, ie the two layers of springs. Some people love dual springs others find them too lively. The customers who chose the 004 have stated a preference for a mattress which isn’t too responsive/bouncy or lively.
I’d say if you have liked the Vispring Kingbridge which has 2 layers of springs then maybe the Artisan Bespoke 002 is the one for you. At 12 stone we would recommend a medium tension. We would definitely advise you board over the base for support.
