Artisan Luxury or Artisan Naturals?
Hi there,
I’m 5ft10 and 98kg, my wife is 5ft7 and 70kg
She’s can sleep anywhere, but I really need a good mattress and am considering the Artisan Luxury and Artisan Naturals.
Our last mattress was href=”https://johnryanbydesign.co.uk/understanding-beds/what-is-tempur-memory-foam/” class=”” >memory foam – I liked the sink down yet supported feel and it was fine for my back, but I’ve suffered extreme overheating with every memory foam mattress I’ve ever used. As such, I’m leaning towards the Naturals but worry that it might be too hard given that I’m used to the sinking support of memory foam – I also have a tendency to sleep on my arm and wake up with a numb arm if the mattress is too hard. However, I’ve had bad experiences before with a bad back from having an overly soft mattress, so I worry that the Luxury might be too soft.
Realise that’s a lot of variables, but any support (no pun intended!) you can provide on mattress choice and tension would be wonderful.

Thanks for your question.
At your body weights you are both matched with a Medium spring tension to get the right support. Every pocket sprung mattress has 2 elements to it; The spring inside where the tension is determined by body weight alone and the fillings that sit atop those springs that give you the comfort;

The predominant difference between these 2 models is the feel in the comfort layers. The Artisan Naturals is our true medium and the Artisan Luxury is the softest mattress that we retail.
Both mattresses will give a cool sleep surface with the full 100% natural fillings in the Luxury giving the coolest sleep surface overall.
With your slight concern over which model to choose I would say stick with the slightly firmer model of the Naturals. The main reason for this recommendation is that if you do find this mattress too firm you can always add a mattress topper to soften down the feel. If you go straight in at the Luxury and find that it is too soft then you can do nothing to firm it up.
