Artisan Natural Mattress and open slatted base.
Our kingsize bed has a flat wooden slatted base. The slats are 70mm x 18mm with 30mm spacing between, giving 20 slats in all. I am looking at the Artisan Natural mattress. Would this be suitable on this base, or would we have to modify it?

The advise that we give in regards to a slatted base is that the gaps between the slats should not exceed 3″ as this would cause the mattress to sink between the slats. If the gap is greater than 3″ you would need to board over the slats using either MDF or Plywood (3-5mm) creating a solid platform base.
At 30mm the gaps between your slats are not great enough to cause a problem with your mattress therefore if you would like to purchase our Artisan Naturals mattress it would be suitable to place on top of your slatted base as it is.
