Artisan Naturals mattress for Feather and Black bedstead
Hi I have ordered an Artisan Naturals mattress from you , and Marie has been most heplful in working out spring tensions for my husband and I who have big weight difference, it is due this week I think. It is going on an iron bedstead-Feather and Black-we have had it for a long time and love it and it has sprung slatted base with the central stabiliser bar, I see you say put a pad between it and mattress which we have never done before, if we bought a pad rather than use blankets/quilt -who would make one please?

The duvet concept as a mattress pad due to the prominent amount of filling (rather than density) will fill in the crevice between the central stabiliser bar and the arch of the sprung slats – the mattress pad as supplied by Vi-Spring will not do this. As you will have now found out, the sheer weight of this particular mattress will no doubt fully compress the sprung slats on your bed. This removes the worry of the humpback bridge effect that shows itself more readily on the cheaper lighter weight mattress – particularly one-sided models!
Finally Catriona, most of this boils down to common sense. Every mattress is subject to at least eight hours every single night of constant pressure on the upholstery and the regular vaporisation and evaporation of body moisture each and every night. It does not take too long for this to have an adverse effect on the mattress as a whole – and as unpleasant as this is to discuss, it really is a fact of life.
