Hi Pauline,

Thank you for your question.

Our sprung bases are what is known as firm edge sprung, which means that the springs are in the sleep area of the base and are surrounded by a solid frame. The reason for this is so that the springs operate in the area most utilised in sleeping and the firm edge prevents slipping off the bed when sitting on the edge, although this is a practice we discourage. If the base were entirely sprung as you suggest, there would be no support provided at the edge and may result in rolling out of bed.

I trust that this helps, but if you have any further queries, please do not hesitate to call our office on 0161 437 4419.

Kind regards Julie
