Thank you for your questions.

We would need some indication of what type of mattress you were interested in; For example, we have traditional pocket spring mattresses, Latex and Hybrid Foam.

If you were looking at a pocket sprung mattress then we would match you both with a Medium spring tension.

The spring is what provides the support from within the mattress itself.

Once the spring is established then you need to consider the top upholstery layers also known as the comfort layers. This is where you can have a soft sink in sensation, more of a medium support or a firm feel.

Our pocket sprung mattresses are fine to go on to a slatted base as long as the gaps between the slats are 3″ or less; If they are bigger than 3″ then we just recommend placing some sheets of MDF over the slats to prevent indentation and damage to the mattress.

Our Latex and Hybrid Foam mattresses need to go on to a solid base.
