Hi Chris,

Thanks for your question.

Any new fully turnable mattress should be flipped and rotated once a month in the first year, dropping to every 3-4 months in the second year onwards.

The reason for this is that by doing this you are allowing even distribution of all wear and tear as well as even settlement of all fillings. Please see the article here for further information and mattress care and maintenance.

Pocket sprung mattresses can be placed on to any sort of base. This will ultimately depend on what you want from the bed. A pocket sprung base will add extra support to the mattress but will in turn soften down the feel of the mattress.

A solid platform top base will give the mattress a slightly firmer feel.

Please note that our pocket sprung mattresses are fine for use with a slatted bed base as long as the gaps between the slats are no bigger than 3″”. If you measure and they are then all you need to do is purchase some standard sheets of MDF, plywood or pegboard to place over them. Any gaps bigger than 3″ will cause indentation and damage to the mattress.
