Can I use pegboard to fix my bed base?

You suggest the mdf sheets for laying on slatted bed frame to get desired flat surface. What about pegboard sheets instead? I’m thinking about keeping it breathable, or is that an issue? Thanks for your feedback.

Hi Rhonda,

We recommend MDF or plywood on slatted bases if the space between the slats is more than 3″.  This is because the springs in a mattress will settle between the slats.  This means you would not get the correct support from your mattress and over time your mattress would be damaged.

Pegboard sheets would give the same effect and aid airflow on the underside of the mattress.  Breathability is not an issue with our mattresses as they have air vents but we can not comment on other manufacturer’s mattresses.

If your mattress is a foam based mattress such as latex Pegboard sheets would not be advisable.  Foam-based mattresses like our Hybrid and Fusion ranges need a platform top divan or if you have a slatted base, boarding it to give the same effect.
