Can you recommend a mattress topper?

Heather asked

Hello, I was wondering if you could recommend a mattress topper. We have just bought a new mattress and I am utterly disappointed in it. My husband, on the other hand loves it. It is the Highgrove mattress Desire with 1500 pocket springs. I have two issues with it. Firstly, although it is firm when you first get on it, you very quickly sink into it (I realise now that this is to do with the memory foam). I like a firm bed. It was a terrible mistake to get memory foam. Secondly, I am seriously overheating with the memory foam. We have several egyptian cotton sheets but that lovely “coolness” you get from them is completely lost in the heat of the mattress. I am waking up several times in the night far too hot and sweaty. I have been unable to sleep since having this mattress and I am at the end of my tether!

Is there anything you can suggest?

Hi Heather,

Thanks for your question.

I am sorry you have had a bad experience with your mattress.

Generally you should be pairing the topper as the same material in the material, I,e. foam with foam, latex with latex.

You might be better trying to source a cooler foam topper; Memory Foam is notorious for causing heat issues as it relies on heat retention in order to adapt to your body. Please see our article here for more in depth information on Memory Foam.

Alternatively, have a look at Soak and Sleep online – They might be able to suggest something cooler than the current Memory Foam.

I hope this has answered your questions fully but if you do have any further queries please don’t hesitate to contact our office on 0161 437 4419.

Kind Regards, Lee.
