TAKE OUR MATTRESS QUIZ

Choosing the correct Mattress

Thomas asked

We are looking for a new king size mattress and are struggling to decide on which model. I came across your site and was interested in knowing if you have an equivalent to the mattress is top of our list. I am frustrated not knowing what goes into the mattresses, and also concerned about how long it will last.
We have tried a number of mattresses, and like the Sealy Augusta from Bensons for Beds (apparently similar to its Millionaires Firm standard range). It is a “5” firm which is apparently open coil, and feels solid so that when you sit on the edge it doesn’t give way like all the other types of mattresses do. I haven’t found a springs/” title=”pocket spring”>pocket spring version yet that we like and it feels like we ‘sink’ into the mattress.
I was wondering if you have a mattress which compares to that one and if there is a different manufacturer that has a similar model we could try.

Hi Thomas,

It is impossible to recommend any similar products on the market to the Sealy Augusta being sold by Bensons, because the published details in respect of construction and upholstery are vague.

Having said that, I can confirm that the product you refer is only one sided and this means that it can only be rotated rather than rotated and turned.

This is likely to have an impact on the longevity of the product.

I also note that the size you refer to is being offered on sale at £899.99, but will return to £1799.99 after sale. I am always wary of products being offered at 50% discount and would not personally, expect it ever to be sold at the higher price.

The reason that it feels solid on the edge is that it has an edge guard to provide this feeling, although I am not aware of the construction of that edge guard as the description is again vague.

Personally, I would not buy a product that did not have full details of the construction and upholstery in terms of GSM (grams per square metre), because using an analogy, you would not buy a car without knowing what was under the bonnet.

It is difficult for me to recommend a product from our ranges without full knowledge of your body weight(s) and preferred feel.

Please call our office with the above information and we will then point you towards the most appropriate mattress for you, in our ranges.

I trust that this helps.

Kind Regards Gary
