Disappointed in a Vi-spring Tiara mattress

Lesley asked
19th October 2015

30 days ago we purchased a Vispring Tiara super kingsize medium.
We are extremely disappointed in this bed and my husband is waking up with lower back pain. I have a bad lower back plus a previous neck injury and this bed is causing pain on waking(including in the night) in back, neck, hips and even elbows. My husband weighs 14 plus stone and I weigh 12.
Previously we had a Tempure bed which was very good (should have bought another but too late now)
I spoke to the shop two weeks ago and was told to wait the 30 days. We feel the bed is much too soft for us although know it was calculated right according to the salesman. They have suggested we wait until 90 days before having it made harder but feel I will be a wreck by then as I am waking up tired as well.
Had hoped we could have had a refund as the bed was soooo expensive but apparently not possible. We do have a Vispring cotton lambswool topper.
Any advice would be gratefully received.

Hi Lesley,

Thank you for your question, I am sorry to hear of the issues you have with your Vi-Spring mattress and would say that a medium spring tension is what I would have advised given your body weights.

BodyweightSpring tension
Upto 16 Stone / 50-101kgMedium (1.4mm)
16 Stone / 101kg UpwardsFirm (1.6mm)
Available in Bespoke Products (Please Call)Soft (1.2mm)

I would first of all try removing the topper as this may be making the mattress feel softer than it should be. Also, the feel of the mattress could be affected by what type of base you have it on, for instance, if you have it on a platform topped or solid slatted base, this will make it feel firmer whereas a pocket sprung base will soften the overall feel of your mattress. If you have a sprung base you could try boarding it with MDF to see if this helps.

What you require is support from the springs and comfort from the upholstery layers. The removal of the topper may resolve the softness issue and of course, it can take 4 to 6 weeks to get used to the new feel, but if you still find it too soft after the 90 days, perhaps you could opt for a firm tension, although as I have said medium spring tension will give you the correct support.
