TAKE OUR MATTRESS QUIZ

Do you feel the tufting on the mattress?

Lily asked

I think tufting looks very uncomfortable and feel that quilting might be smoother to lie on, but am I right?

Does one actually feel the relatively large undulations in a tufted mattress when one lies on it?

Hi Lily,

Thanks for your question.

This is difficult to say definitively as comfort is very subjective. What one person feels another doesn’t. Some people are a lot more sensitive to tufting than others.

Tufting is essential to any pocket sprung mattress that’s worth it’s weight as they hold the fillings in place.

If you do have a sensitivity to this then you might be better purchasing a pocket sprung mattress but adding a separate topper to it or looking into full Foam or Latex mattresses.

Our pocket sprung ranges are Origins and Artisan. Our Artisan range differs from Origins as they are constructed using natural fillings and these fillings give a cool sleep surface. Anyone who identifies as a hot sleeper would be guided to the Artisan range.

We then have our Hybrid Foam and Fusion (100% Natural Latex) ranges. Both are great for pressure relief and have a similar sink in sensation to memory foam but without the heat issues associated. The additional benefit here is that these ranges don’t have tufts on the top surface so if you’re looking at avoiding tufts these might be an ideal solution.

We would need to know your body weights as well as preferred feel in the top layers in order to discuss suitable models but you can browse all of the models in our ranges from the links tagged into this article.

I hope this has answered your queries fully but if you do have any further questions please don’t hesitate to contact us on 0161 437 4419. Our office is open Monday to Friday 8am to 8pm and Saturday and Sunday 10am to 4pm.

Kind Regards, Lee.
