Getting mattress up a very tight set of stairs

Richard Dear asked

Our bedroom is in the loft and the stairs up to it are very tight, turning back on themselves with a limited width and headroom. We have tried getting a standard 20cm thick king size mattress from one of the bedrooms on the lower floor up but there is just not enough room.
We have looked at memory foam mattresses as I assumed that they could be rolled and almost bought a Tempur 21 until the salesman told us they couldn’t be rolled or folded significantly.
Have now become aware of Ergoflex and Simba and they come rolled up, do we have any other options?

Hi Richard,

When access is an issue, we would normally recommend a zip and link set of mattresses, which can be made in king size and above. I note that you have advised that there limited space and headroom and is those instance, we normally suggest that the base is made in four pieces. Because the stairs double back on themselves, you need a mattress which is quite flexible and our zip and links are available in our Artisan range, which has some degree of flexibility, they are not available in our Latex or Hybrid foam ranges.

Please call our office on 0161 437 4419 to discuss your requirements in more detail prior to placing an order.

Kind regards.
