TAKE OUR MATTRESS QUIZ

Getting my mattress upstairs!

Viv asked

I live in an old Victorian terrace with the typical narrow staircase. It is not possible to get a double mattress up the stairs unless it can be made half the size. I am interested in your Origens range and wondered if that could be persuaded to shrink enough to get it up my stairs.

Hi Viv,

Thank you for your question.

I have great sympathy with your access issue, the Victorians never envisaged that people would opt for large furniture in the future. Mattresses can be made in two halves, but only in a king size and above. A king size would equate to two mattresses 2ft wide x 6ft 6in long, which would be zipped together in the centre. Unfortunately, it is unlikely that you will be able to find any manufacturer who will do a similar split in a double size.

If you would like to discuss your situation in more detail and obtain specific advice as to a suitable product from our ranges, please call the office on 0161 437 4419.

Kind regards Julie
