Hypnos vs John Ryan – which is better value?
Hi,
I was just about to order a lovely new Hypnos mattress
But I thought to do some quick research first and came across your excellent website. Now I’m uncertain of what to go for…
You see I’m after a king size mattress and I think your origin mattress would be comparable to the Hypnos mattress in the link, however the Hypnos also offers a ‘mattress topper”… Is that a good or bad thing in your view?
I think I already might Know the answer, but which mattress would you recommend and why.

We do not make any mattresses which are comparable to any Hypnos products and you will no doubt be aware from the published details of the Hypnos, that specific details of the upholstery are vague. In addition, the Hypnos product you refer to is what is known as a pillow top and this is something we do not recommend primarily because when the topper part flattens, it cannot be replaced meaning that the whole mattress needs to be replaced. If you purchased a mattress and separate topper, when the topper does eventually flatten you can replace it at a fraction of the cost of a new mattress.
I cannot advise at this stage, how our Origins Pocket 1500 will feel for you without knowledge of your body weight (s), but would advise that for people of between 10 and 17 stones, it will provide an overall medium feel.
