Hi Merina,

Thank you for your enquiry.  The advice used to be that for any back problems you required a firm mattress but that is no longer the case.  What you need is the correct spring tension to support your body weight. Pocket Sprung mattresses are good for people with back pain because they’re designed to provide support and comfort. They contain individual springs that are cushioned in their own breathable pockets and they’ve been built with whole-body support in mind.

When suffering from back pain, you do not what upholstery layers that are too firm, especially if you sleep on your side as they can cause pressure pain in the shoulders, hips and knees.  We recommend a medium feel in the comfort layers as they have a slight sink but not too much. Our Artisan Naturals mattress comes in three different spring tensions, depending on your weight. It contains 85% natural fibres and is an excellent choice for people suffering from bad backs. It can be made in a zip and link tension to reduce movement from two sleepers in kingsize and above.

If natural fibres are out of your budget, our Origins Pocket 1500 from our man-made fibre Origins range has a similar feel in the comfort layers and has a medium spring tension as standard.

I hope this is helpful and if you would like any further information or would like to discuss the suitability of any of our models, please do not hesitate to contact the office on 0161 437 4419.

Kind Regards
Michaela
