Issues with a sleep to live 300 mattress from bensons

Hi JR
What a fantastic website resource – well done on all accounts 🙂
We have had issues with a Sleep to live 300 mattress from Bensons and been offered £300 compensation off a new mattress. We like the Bespoke Collection Opulence currently priced at £1149 with £300 off – £849. This is their premium / high end mattress.
Do you know anything about this brand? Can’t find anything with regards filling weights / percentages.
What would be your recommendations from your mattresses for the money as this is a 1 sided mattress and mentions natural fillings. We have looked and liked the Natural Angora from John Lewis but over our price range unless we do Interest Free.
We like the idea of 2 sided to get more turning involved / breathing and less indentations/sinking. Natural filling is appealing as my wife has suffered from over heating and also very sensitive to dust.
We like a Medium feel, I weigh 12.5/13 stone and my wife is approx 9-10 stone without asking! The mattress is to go on a metal bed frame with sprung slats and I like your MDF base idea and willing to give that a whirl when we get a new mattress.
I get the impression, based on your comparisons, we would get more “bang for our buck” from you over Bensons even with the temptation of a £300 refund against the new mattress.
If you can offer some advise / discussion and options to consider we would appreciate it. Do you offer interest free options on higher priced mattresses?
Thanks in advance,
Mr Prem Reynolds

Hi Prem,

I note that you have established that there is very little if any published information in respect of the upholstery layers used in the Bespoke Collection Opulence supplied by Bensons. The lack of information makes it impossible for us to provide any form of a recommendation in respect of build quality or performance of that product.

Having said that, I would always recommend that if you are able to purchase a double sided mattress this preferable to the one-sided ones purely from a longevity point of view and the fact that by being able to turn and rotate a mattress, you will distribute the wear and tear sustained during constant use.

Given your body weights and preferred feel, I would recommend that you look at the Artisan Naturals in a medium spring tension, which can be placed on a slatted base provided that a barrier of thin (3-5mm) MDF has been placed over the slats to provide a uniform surface upon which the mattress can rest. We do not provide any form of credit facility and all items are paid for in full at the point of order.

I trust that this helps, kind regards Mike.
