Thanks for your question.
The mattress in question from John Lewis is made by Harrisons. The high spring count is achieved in 2 ways.
There is a layer of tiny springs made into a blanket that make up 4000 of the 5000 quoted.
The other 1000 is made up of springs within springs. This is unique to Harrisons and no other manufacturer uses this system.
Our mattresses are made with traditional hand made calico encased pocket springs. We use the same spring system favoured by the likes of Savoir and Vi Spring, arguably the countries very best mattress manufacturers.
In terms of comfort layers our Artisan Naturals has 3950gsm of natural fibre filling including wool, cotton and mohair. I am not sure how much is in the JL model as they no longer list the weights.

Can I ask why it is you require a non turn mattress? Essentially a non turn mattress is a one sided mattress that only has comfort layers on one side. This means that the mattress will wear out twice as fast as a turnable mattress? Read this post for more information.
