John Lewis Ultimate Collection NO. 4. I tried this matreess in johnnleiws and found it amazing as it could give me firm support while being so soft it allowed my shoulders tips to sink in and leave my neck straight. 4 questions. 1. Which other mates should I be considering given the high price of this. 2. Is the high price too much for Whatvis is? ( I did feel significant improvement between no. 2 3 and 4 but it’s double the price. 3 is it still worth putting a horse tail topper on a matreess like this Eg hasten blx or is thatvover kill. Do I need the John Lewis spring edge divan base or can any spring edge base do? This bed appears to be higher spec than the empire Edgar spin from the same factory! Many thanks for your advice. I am unable to provide an opinion as to quality and performance of any of the John Lewis products because there are no details published with regard to construction and upholstery layers in terms of GSM (grams per square metre). This also makes it is impossible to suggest any comparable product. In addition, I am unable to provide a recommendation regarding the same in terms of suitability for you without knowledge of your body weight(s).
Irrespective of the above negative response, I confirm that our advice would be that before purchasing a topper to use with any new mattress, you should wait at least 14 days in order for your body to get used to the feel of the new product. By doing this you could avoid an unnecessary purchase.
Again, I would say that I cannot provide a suggestion regarding the application of one of the toppers your refer to as I do not know how the purchase you make will perform for your body weights.
As far as bases are concerned, whilst John Lewis may pair their mattresses with a sprung edge divan, if you are thinking of using an alternative sprung base, you should check that the build quality and construction is similar. Failure to do this may result in the mattress not performing as expected and may effect your rights in respect of return etc.
Notwithstanding the above, please view the products in our Artisan range, which are pocket sprung mattresses with natural fibres in the upholstery layers, the full detail of which appear in the description of each product.
These too are paired with a firm edge sprung divan and ultimately are very reasonably priced when compared to the cost of the John Lewis products.
