John Ryan Bespoke Artisan Mattress

Helen Gowlett asked

My husband is 13 stone (5’ 11) and fidgets through the night. I am 8.5 stone (5’ 3) and a very light sleeper. My sleep is constantly disturbed by my husband moving about. We have a king size slatted bed and I would like advice on the best mattress for us?

Hi Helen,

Thanks for your question.

At your body weights you will need a dual tension mattress; You will need a Soft spring tension for yourself and your husband will need a Medium spring. This will give you both the correct level of support.

Given that you disclose the disturbance issues it might be worth looking at a Zip and Link set; This will give you 2 separate mattresses that are zipped together to form one but as they are 2 completely separate entities you can’t transfer movement between the springs.

The Artisan Bespoke you mention in the title is the firmest mattress in the top layers giving no sort of sink whatsoever. We would need to know your sleeping habits and preferred feel in order to discuss suitable models within our Artisan range. Side sleepers for example need to avoid anything too firm in the top layers as this will simply cause pressure point pains. This would in turn rule out the Artisan Bespoke. Please come back to us at your earliest convenience in order to discuss this.

Our Artisan products are fine to go on to a slatted base as long as the gaps are no bigger than 3″. If you measure them and find that they are then simply place some standard MDF, plywood or pegboard. If the slats are sprung slats then you might want to board the base straight away as this can lead to a ridge in the middle where the mattress will attempt to conform to the dip.

I hope this helps but please come back to us at your earliest convenience on 0161 437 4419 to discuss this further.

Kind Regards, Lee.
