TAKE OUR MATTRESS QUIZ

John Ryan v Spink & Edgar

Rob asked

Hi,
Your products look very good. I am in the market for a good quality mattress.
How do your beds compare in terms of quality to Spink & Edgar?
For example, they have 12000 springs in a mattress compared to 1600.
Also, they have over 150yrs experience. How would you compare with on 11yrs experience?
Yours sincerely,
Rob.

Hi Rob,

Thank you for your question.

We are unable to provide a direct comparison to any Spink & Edgar product as they do not disclose the levels of upholstery in terms of GSM (grams per square metre). All the products in our Artisan range have full details in respect of construction and upholstery disclosed on the site, making it easy for customers to make an informed decision in respect of a purchase.

As far as the number of springs is concerned, in order for Spink & Edgar to accommodate the number of springs you refer to, they include in that count a large number of mini springs, which take the place of upholstery layers and in our view do not bring that much to the table in terms of comfort. Most mattress descriptions disclose the number of springs in a standard king size mattress and these are proportionally more or less depending on whether you go larger or smaller in size. In a normal mattress 1000 springs are sufficient to provide support for people of average body weights and sometimes suggesting that a mattress has a great deal more springs could be deemed a sales gimmick.

Spink & Edgar may have 150 years experience as opposed to our 11 years, however, our experience is internet based and in an ever changing technological world this speaks volumes for the quality of our products and the honesty of our site. I trust that this helps.

Kind regards,
