Looking to replace 20 year old mattress

Sandra asked
20th July 2014

I think your website is amazing. I have learnt so much about mattresses. I have had my present mattress for 20 years and always thought it was good quality. After reading your posts I now realise it ISN’T!

I am 8stone and would like soft feel with support. After much informed consideration I have 2 products to make a final decision: Comfort mattress and a really good quality topper or hybrid laygel soft. Please help with my final decision. Do I need to pay more to make me happy?

Why is the comfort only guaranteed for 3 years?

Thanks, Sandra >

Hi Sandra,

Thanks for your questions.

If you want a soft feel either the Origins Comfort or the Artisan Luxury would be the models to look at.

Both models are traditional pocket sprung mattresses with the main difference being the fillings used in each.

The Origins Comfort 1000 has a medium spring tension as standard with synthetic fillings in the construction. This might just feel a little firmer for you at your body weight so you may need to add a separate mattress topper.

In regards to mattress toppers you would be best having a look at a company online called Soak and Sleep. They have a much wider range than we do and with those mattresses you generally want to be looking at something like Wool or Microfibres.

The Artisan Luxury is the softest mattress that we retail overall. You can tailor the tension to a Soft spring to get the correct support for you. You then have the softer top layers constructed with natural fillings and those fillings in turn provide a cool sleep surface.

I hope this has helped answer your questions fully but if you do have any further queries please don’t hesitate to contact our office on 0161 437 4419.

Kind Regards, Lee.
