TAKE OUR MATTRESS QUIZ

Mattress choice for base with curved slats: Female, under 7 stone, 1.52m height, stomach sleeper, lower back pain, firm mattress preferred, natural fabrics

Hi s asked

Please can you advise on the best mattresses for me? I don’t like the feel of sinking into a mattress also it feels unsupportive for any back, especially a bad one (perhaps I’m confusing softness with support). Unfortunately I’m not too successful avoiding being a stomach sleeper which is also bad for my back. Advice would be much appreciated. Thank you!

Hi s18m10,

Thanks for your question.

Being a front sleeper you need to avoid anything that’s too soft in the top upholstery as this will cause an unnatural arch in your back exacerbating those pains.

Every pocket sprung mattress has 2 elements to it; The spring tension, which is determined solely by your body weight and then the fillings that sit atop the springs (also known as the comfort layers). At your body weight you would need a Soft spring tension to get the right level of support.

Given what you mention I would advise that the Artisan Naturals is the best model to look at. This model is a true medium feeling model in the comfort layers meaning it’s neither too soft nor too firm. This will give a slight sink but not too much.

This model has the benefit of being constructed with 85% natural fibres giving a cool sleep surface. If you wanted to have the full 100% natural fillings then the Artisan Bespoke 004 has the same feel in the comfort layers but has the full 100% natural fillings.

I hope this has answered your questions fully but if you do have any further queries please don’t hesitate to contact us on 0161 437 4419.

Kind Regards, Lee.
