Mattress recommendations for front and side sleepers

We’re looking for a new mattress having had a couple of expensive mattresses that have lasted less then a year before becoming very uncomfortable. Both of the problem mattresses included memory foam – the last was/is Tempur – which was heaven to start with and agony after 6 months.
With this in mind we’re seeking something with natural fibres hoping that these will last a bit longer! We don’t mind spending cash to get a good mattress _if_ we can be sure the mattress will last a few years!
I’m 6’1″, about 85kg and sleep on my front. This is a problem given that I have a bad back anyway. I’ve tested the John Lewis Natural collection and the Yorkshire Wool 8000 through to the Silk 14000 were find in firm spring tension but too soft in medium. The Cashmere 16000 was too soft in firm. I’m currently sleeping on the floor on a self-inflating camping mat which is fine for my back but lacks luxury.
My partner is 5’3″ and around 55kg. She is curvy and sleeps on her side so normally needs something fairly soft to support her waist.
Bed is 6′ wide by 7′ long – but a mattress 2m long is fine. Given the size zip-link might be best to allow us to turn the mattresses over, otherwise the mattress will be too heavy. Base is wooden planks with a mm or two between them for ventilation.

Thank you for your question.
As you are looking for a mattress that has natural fillings, I would recommend having a look at our Artisan Range of mattresses.
At your body weights, I would recommend a medium spring tension for both of you which will give you the support you both require and we can do this in a zip & link mattress. The problem is that you both require different fillings to give the mattress a firm feel for you as you are a front sleeper and a softer feel for you wife. With a zip & link mattress, we can alter the spring tension for each mattress but the overall upholstery fillings or comfort layers will always be the same. Therefore there will have to be a certain amount of compromise and I would, therefore, suggest a mattress that has a medium comfort layer making it neither too soft nor too firm unless your wife does not mind having a firm upholstery layer.

If your wife does not mind an overall firm feel, I would suggest having a look at the Artisan Bespoke as this mattress has firm comfort layers and we can alter the spring tension to suit you both. Please see the link attached.
If you require a mattress with a medium comfort layer, I would suggest having a look at our Artisan Bespoke 004.
We would also recommend that you try two of the Vi Spring mattresses which our Artisan range have a similar feel to. If the store has the Bedstead range of mattresses, these would be better for you to try as these are the mattresses on a slatted base. This will then give you an idea of how the comfort layers work for you both. Please also try these mattresses in a medium spring tension.
