Hi Deborah,

Thank you for your question.

There is no specific reason to opt for an open coil mattress to place on a platform base as encased pocket springs will still be fine and will provide a better level of comfort than an open coil mattress. The only consideration is that, placing a mattress on a platform base may make it feel slightly firmer than it would on a pocket sprung base.

Our Artisan Range contain mattresses with natural upholstery but are about 27cm deep.   Then only mattresses that are not as deep are those within our Fusion Range.  Again these mattresses are 100% natural but are made of latex and give a very different sleep sensation.

I would recommend that you telephone our Office to speak to an Advisor who will be able to discuss with you your body weights for the spring tension and also how you like the mattress to feel from the comfort layers.  Those are all the fillings which are on top of the springs that give the comfort.
