TAKE OUR MATTRESS QUIZ

Mattress type to avoid bed sagging

Chris asked
14th October 2016

We are so bloody confused, so far we have had 2 x Florence 1500 pocket sprung mattresses from Warren Evans, each time the mattress suffered sinking on our respective sides despite turning as advised!

They said it was the base but we have a good sprung divan base that hasn’t any issues, now the 2nd replacement mattress is being returned after 4 months of hassle.

We both ended up with restless nights and soar hips and backs. We don’t know what to do now with mattresses, we have no idea, lost faith.

Can you help us choose a mattress type that won’t sag or dip and let us sleep properly??

Hi Chris,

Thank you for your question. We’re so sorry to hear of your nightmare with your current mattresses.

We have looked at the published details of the Warren Evans Florence 1500 and note that despite confirming the number springs and that it has a reflex foam comfort layer, there are no other details provided in respect of the remaining upholstery, save to say that it has high quality, sumptuous fillers, which could mean anything in truth.

It is described as a medium/firm feel which would coincide with Reflex foam being a firm component.

It is difficult for us to provide a recommendation from our ranges, without knowledge of your body weights. Likewise, it is not possible to provided an opinion as to whether the Florence 1500 would be suited to you without this information or more detail in respect of the upholstery. We have provided a link here to an article on natural upholstery, which you may find interesting.

We do make a mattress which contains Reflex foam and this is the Origins Pocket Reflex 1000. We usually recommend this product for bed and breakfast or guest house accommodation because it will take a wide variety of body weights, although, as I have said, I cannot specifically recommend this for you without your body weight details.

Best mattress which wont sag:

The most popular model in our Origins range is the Origins Pocket 1500, which will provide an overall medium feel for people of body weights between 10 and 17 stones. There is a link here providing some insight into the weight ranges for different spring tensions/feels, which may help. This model is the best all-rounder for people wanting a comfortable nights sleep.

Assuming that you are looking for a king size, the Origins Pocket 1500 represents excellent value for money and the full details of the levels of upholstery are detailed within the link to the product above. We do have a range, which has natural upholstery, however, their price is greater as natural upholstery is more expensive.

How to choose a mattress:

Choosing a mattress can be tricky as you’ve experienced, especially when retailers don’t give you all the details of what exactly you’re paying for! We have written a detailed guide for people who are looking for a new mattress which may help arm you with the detail you need to know to avoid being ripped off or missold a bed. We’ve also attached an infographic below on the top tips when mattress buying which you can save and use with whichever bed retailer you choose to buy from.

We trust that the above is of assistance to you, but if you require any further advice or guidance in respect of our products, please do not hesitate to call our office on 0161 437 4419.

Kind regards Julie
