TAKE OUR MATTRESS QUIZ

Miracoil too firm

Sheila asked
29th December 2014

We would like to order a kingsize mattress and think Origins Pocket 1500/2000 would be suitable but would be grateful for your thoughts before ordering.

Regarding firmness, on holiday we found a Silentnight Miracoil firm, too hard.

It is to go on a wooden slatted frame with central support.

I am 5’7″ & 11 3/4 stone and my husband is 6′ and 14 1/2 stone.

If you need any further details I can be contacted on (Phone numbers removed for privacy).

Look forward to hearing from you after the holidays.

We found your website very informative.

Thanks Sheila

Hi Sheila,

Origins Pocket spring 1500 mattress

Thank you for your question on our website.  The Origins Pocket 1500 is a medium feel in it’s upholstery layers, which are mainly synthetic fibres but there is a small amount of natural fibres in the top layer.  At the body weights you have supplied you both require a medium spring tension to give you the correct support.  The 2000 spring option is for people whose body weight is over 17 stone and would be too firm for both you and your husband.

BodyweightSpring tension
Upto 16 Stone / 50-101kgMedium (1.4mm)
16 Stone / 101kg UpwardsFirm (1.6mm)
Available in Bespoke Products (Please Call)Soft (1.2mm)

If the slats on your bed frame are sprung, this will soften the overall feel of any mattress.  Having said that, if the space between the slats is 3 inches or more we would recommend boarding them over with MDF or Plywood.  The prevents the mattress dipping into the gap which causes a lumpy feel to the mattress and over time will damage your mattress, furthermore, you would not get the correct support from the pocket springs.

If you would like to discuss the suitability of the mattress call our friendly team on 0161 437 4419.  Our office hours are 8 am – 8 pm Monday to Friday and 10 am – 4 pm Saturday and Sunday,

Kind Regards

Michaela
