TAKE OUR MATTRESS QUIZ

Need your advice

Val Hayman asked

Hi, I am looking to buy a new mattress. I weigh just under 10 stone. I have always had a medium tension which has always been suitable. I have now tried some medium feel mattresses and they feel quite hard. I do get backache at times so would ideally like a very comfortable mattress for my size. The last mattress I bought had innergetic latex which was very comfortable but lately, it certainly isn’t. I have had this mattress for a few years now. Any comments from you would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Hi Val,

Thanks for your question.

At your body weight you are matched with a Medium spring tension to get the right level of support. The spring is 1 of 2 elements in any pocket sprung mattress. You then have the fillings sitting atop those springs providing the comfort layer comprising the 2nd element.

BodyweightSpring tension
Upto 16 Stone / 50-101kgMedium (1.4mm)
16 Stone / 101kg UpwardsFirm (1.6mm)
Available in Bespoke Products (Please Call)Soft (1.2mm)

It could be that you need to go for a soft top layer giving you something that you can really sink into whilst being supported by the spring underneath.

I’d recommend having a look at our Origins Comfort 1000 or our Artisan Naturals. Both these mattresses are traditional pocket sprung mattresses; The only difference is that the Artisan range is constructed with natural fillings and those fillings provide a cool sleep surface.

Alternatively we do have 1 pocket sprung mattress with a latex top layer in built (Our Origins Pocket Latex 1500) but this mattress is very firm in the top layers and I wouldn’t really recommend this given you disclose you’re finding medium feeling models too firm.

I hope this has answered your questions fully but if you do have any further queries please don’t hesitate to contact our office on 0161 437 4419.

Kind Regards, Lee.
