One sided pocket sprung bedframe choices

Sienna asked

Hi,
I have a pocket sprung mattress (useable on one side) as the other side is flat, I am looking to buy a bedframe for it, but the bedframe I have chosen has sprung slats, will this not be good for the mattress? Should I be looking for a solid slat bed? Many thanks.

Hi Sienna,

Thank you for your enquiry via our website. Ideally, before placing any mattress on a sprung slatted base, we would recommend that you place sheets of 3-5mm MDF over the slats to provide a uniform surface upon which the mattress can sit. In this way, you will still get some of the spring with the slats, but your mattress will not depress into the gaps between the slats.
