Opinions on a reduced Dreams Insignia Blenheim 4000 Mattress

James asked
28th October 2016

Hello there,
I read an answer you gave a while back when someone was comparing the Dreams Blenheim 4000 £1300 to a John Lewis 4000 at £800. You reckoned the Blenheim was very overpriced and lesser quality. The Blenheim is now discontinued, but a shop near me has an ex display one heavily reduced. I found it very comfy and is hardly marked from display, however it does not come with a warranty now. Do you reckon the quality is there to last me the 8 years its designed for? Its down to just under £800, but I know there is room for negotiation. what should I aim for or should I be waiting for John Lewis or M&S sales instead?
Thanks

Hi James,

Thank you for your enquiry.

We are not in a position to confirm whether the purchase of a discontinued product in a sale is going to be able to last you 8 years as suggested, because we are not able to establish the construction and upholstery contained within the Blenheim. You also need to be aware that a product that has been on display may have been laid on by several hundred people whilst on display and as such, that is going to have some impact on the upholstery layers. Our advice is that if the price seems too good to be true, then it probably is. There is an article here in respect of sales tactics, which you may find useful and we would also be wary of spending any sum when no warranty is being provided.

In addition we are not able to advise upon whether this is a suitable product for you, as you have not provided any details in respect of your body weight(s) or preferred feel, two of the most important considerations. Perhaps, rather than pursuing the reduced price products in a sale, it may be worth you visiting our outlet, where we sell products returned to us under our 60 day “love it or return it” guarantee that have been graded according to their condition and represent better value for money that products offered in sales.

We trust that this is of assistance to you, but if you require any further advice or guidance, please call our office on 0161 437 4419, kind regards.
