Origin Pocket Latex 1500 or 2000 springs

Axel asked

Hi. I am interested in this mattress but not sure about the number of springs/firmness we need. I weigh 13 and my wife about 9 but we both like quite firm (my wife is Chinese and is really used to very firm beds). For comparison we tried a couple in Bensons – the iGel Pegasus and Sealy Melbourne and we think this is more or less what we want, with the igel preferred (slightly firmer). They both rate 4 in Bensons. Which one would you recommend? Thanks.

Hi Axel,

Thank you for your enquiry.

The first thing to say is that the Origins Pocket Latex 1500 or 2000 cannot be compared to either of the products you refer to as they are completely different in construction and content. The Sealy product is a pillow top, which we would not recommend and the iGel has pocket spring in a foam surround. With your particular body weights we would normally recommend that you look at a medium feel mattress for you and soft for your wife, although we note that you both prefer a firmer feel. The Pocket Latex mattress with 1500 springs is firmer than the medium feeling Origins Pocket 1500, which provides an overall medium feel. If you were to opt for the 2000 spring version, despite you asserting that your wife is used to very firm beds, we feel that this might be too firm.

The Pocket Latex combines a quality 1500 pocket spring unit with a deep talalay latex comfort layer. Mixing both progressive comfort with traditional support. A medium firmer edge progressive feel.

First Layer: One inch HD Foam: directly on top of the spring unit (as the insulator). This is a more forgiving component which moves with the spring unit.

Second Layer: 3cm White Talalay 60/40 Latex:

Third Layer: 3cm White Talalay 60/40 Latex: Having two layers of latex is fundamentally better than using one layer of 6cm depth.

Fourth Layer: 300 gsm Wool Silk blend pad: directly beneath the fabric which gives a slight cushion on top of the latex.

The surface is micro quilted with a soft knit fabric providing a flat and comfortable sleep surface. Giving the top side a soft feel. The mattress features machine stitched handles and is also detailed with three rows of machine side stitching
