TAKE OUR MATTRESS QUIZ

origins pocket 1500 or 2000?

Gareth asked

Hi,
I weigh 16.5 stone, and my wife about 12-13, and we’re looking to buy a new double mattress.
I think I’d prefer something quite firm. As a student, I used to sleep on a futon, which felt great for my back.
The Origins Pocket 1500 seems to fit our budget. Would we be better going for the 2000 spring version?
Our current bed has sprung slats, but we’re planning to replace that too. For aesthetic reasons, we’d like to go for a wooden bed frame. Is there anything we should look out for? Are there any brands/shops to go for or avoid?
Thanks

Hi Gareth,

The Origins Pocket 1500 in a 2000 spring version would be fine for you, but for your wife, you may need to apply a topper. Alternatively, if you choose a king size or above, you could go for a zip and link set with one 1500 for your wife and one 2000 for you, although these are slightly more expensive.

BodyweightSpring tension
Upto 16 Stone / 50-101kgMedium (1.4mm)
16 Stone / 101kg UpwardsFirm (1.6mm)
Available in Bespoke Products (Please Call)Soft (1.2mm)

As far as a base is concerned, there are no specific brands that we would recommend, however, if the base is also to be slatted, we would recommend that you place some form of barrier between the mattress and the slats, usually in the form of thin (3-5mm) MDF sheeting. This will provide the mattress with a uniform surface upon which to sit and prevent ridging occurring as a result of the mattress dipping into the gaps between the slats.

I trust that the above is of assistance to you, but if you have any further queries, please do not hesitate to call our office on 0161 437 4419. Kind regards.
