Ottoman base and mattress recommendation for hot sleepers
Hi there,
My girlfriend & I are looking to buy a new bed/ mattress, we currently sleep on a rest assured classic 1000 pocket sprung but neither of us find it comfortable!! We are both approx 70-75kg depending on cake consumed!! Also my girlfriend tends to sleep “hot” therefore has shyed away from memory foam. Currently were on a solid divan base but like the idea of an ottoman base for increased storage. As for budget we we’re looking at mid range mattresses but weren’t sure about bases and we’re looking for some advice? Would it be possible to recommend a mattress for our price/ weight range? Also provide suitability for solid, sprung, slatted, sprung slats, bases? Just wanted to say it’s refreshing to find a website that is open and actually gives you the information you want to know in everyday terms, thank you……

At your body weights you would be matched with a Medium spring tension to get the right level of support with our products;

We would need to know your preferred feel in the top layers but you generally can’t go wrong with a medium feel. As such have a look at our Origins Pocket 1500 or our Artisan Naturals.
Both have a medium feel in those top layers. The Artisan Naturals has the benefit of being constructed using 85% natural fillings; Ideal for anyone who identifies as a hot sleeper.

Our Ottoman base is ideal for storage and will give any mattress going on top of it a slightly firmer feel due to the solid platform top base.
Similarly, slatted bases will do the same and give a slightly firmer feel. We advise that those mattresses can go on to a slatted base as long as the gaps are no bigger than 3″. If they are bigger than 3″ then simply place some MDF, plywood or pegboard to solidify the surface and protect from indentation and damage.
