Outer cover of viscose and glues

Marguerite asked

The outer cover of your natural mattress is viscose. Is this not a synthetic fabric? Also it would have to be made fire retardant with the use of chemicals. Do you offer any alternative cover choices such as 100 per cent wool which would be naturally fire retardant? Are any glues used to bond layers of fillings together. Are these used in the natural range.

Hi Marguerite,

Thank you for your question.

All the covers on our Artisan range of mattresses are a 60%/40% split viscose/cotton damask and are chemically treated to comply with fire retardant regulations. We do not offer alternative cover choices.

As far as the upholstery fillings are concerned, all the Artisan mattresses are tufted and the thread used goes through the mattress, which keeps the layers in place and prevents movement of the same.

I trust that this assists but if you do require further information or advice, please do not hesitate to contact our office on 0161 437 4419.

Kind regards Julie
