Pillowtop dipping

Michael asked 12th January 2016

Hello Mike. The Relyon bed is only made for Benson’s. I will send you the link to it. I called Relyon and they said the Pillowtop won’t flatten or dip cause it has springs in it. I am looking at buying the Millbrook Enchantment 3000 in soft tension, but I am not sure if Millbrook beds are as soft as Relyon beds.

Hi again Michael,

Thanks for getting in touch. Unfortunately, the link you provided takes me to the Heirloom Almond Divan, which it states is made for Bensons by Staples and does not refer to Relyon. The description does not say that the pillow top contains springs so not sure whether we’re looking at the exact model you’ve seen I’m afraid!

Unfortunately all pillowtops whether spring filled or other wise will settle far quicker than a mattress topper which is removable. In fact, we could go so far as to say that a sprung pillowtop is probably worse with the issue of settlement. This is because as a thin layer of upholstery on top of a spring unit, once that flattens you’re literally lying on the metal springs. Not very nice! We always have and always will advise against pillowtop mattresses. You can read our detailed discussion of them here.

The Millbrook model you refer to is a better option, but I would suggest that you look at our Artisan Naturals or indeed any of the Artisan range before making a final decision. If you would like further advice regarding our products, please call our office on 0161 945 3757.
