TAKE OUR MATTRESS QUIZ

The right pocket sprung mattress

Lee Wilson asked
27th April 2017

Hi, we have been looking at the Warren Evans tranquil and Florence but was then pointed in this direction. We are after a pocket sprung mattress as memory foam is too hot for me. I tend to sleep on my front or side. I’m 13 stone and the missus around 10 and a half. We have a slatted bed but I’m willing to put a sheet of mdf on top if that’s better for the pocket springs. Have you a recommendation please

Hi Lee,

Thank you for your enquiry.

We have two ranges of pocket sprung mattresses, those with man made upholstery and those with natural upholstery, the latter of which are more expensive due to the component layers.

With your particular body weights we would suggest that you opt for a medium spring tension/feel mattress. Please view the Origins Pocket 1500, which has a standard medium tension spring unit together with man made upholstery providing an overall medium feel.

John Ryan By Design Origins 1500
1300gsm Wool
2750gsm Very Soft Polyester
3500gsm Polyester Pad
4One Inch Foam Insulator Layer
51500 Spun Bond Pocket Springs

Alternatively, please view the Artisan Naturals or Artisan Bespoke 004, both of which can have the spring tension selected to suit and both of which contain natural upholstery. The Naturals has 85% natural upholstery whereas the 004 has 100%, with both providing an overall medium feel.

All of the above mattresses can be used on your existing slatted base provided that you take the precaution you refer to. This will provide the base with a uniform surface upon which to sit and will prevent ridging occurring as a result of the mattress dipping into the gaps between the slats.

We trust that this is of help to you, but if you require any further advice or guidance, please call our office on 0161 437 4419 and speak with one of our advisors.

Kind regards.
