Sequence mattress questions

Hi John and Ryan – excellent website. Having splashed out on a new bedframe (bentwood slatted base) wife and I want a good quality mattress to accompany it. We are somewhat mismatched in weight and even though the (binned) bedframe and our ageing mattress did contribute we have had issues with lower backache and “bounciness” when one gets on/off affecting the partner. Sticking to “pocket sprung is best” the ones we really liked out and about were: Sleepezee Backcare Luxury 1400 (probably our favourite) Harrison Amethyst 4000 (fine for me, slightly too firm for wife; most expensive; we both found medium too bouncy) The Sequence Pocket Sprung on your website looks very interesting to us – but it seems to have less “layers” than the these and also no cotton filling?

Won’t foam and polyester make it too hot?

Of the mattresses above, which is the sequence most similar too?

I have done some shopping around online too and the Sleepezee and Kozysleep can both be had for ~£420 so about £150 cheaper than the Sequence but I do note the 5 year guarantee. I would value your comments and advice. Thanks Rizwan. >

Hi Rizwan.

Thank you for your enquiry on our website.  Of all the models you mention above, I cannot find any detailed specifications describing the upholstery content in any meaningful way!  Perhaps you know something I don’t which leads you to question that our Sequence Suspension has fewer layers – which I personally doubt by the way.

Origins Pocket spring 1500 mattress

Unfortunately, the Sequence Suspension has been discontinued.  The closest comparable mattress that we have available is the Origins Pocket 2000 (Origins Pocket 1500 but with 2000 springs for individuals whose body weight is in excess of 17 stone).  This mattress is a medium in the comfort layers with the springs in individual pockets so only the springs being compress move. The ‘bounciness’ could also be solved with the zip and link option.  This is ideal when you have access issues and when there is a variance between body weights and two different spring tensions are required.  Spring tension is based solely on an individuals body weight to give the correct support.  Incorrect spring tension can lead to a backache.

BodyweightSpring tension
Upto 16 Stone / 50-101kgMedium (1.4mm)
16 Stone / 101kg UpwardsFirm (1.6mm)
Available in Bespoke Products (Please Call)Soft (1.2mm)

If the space between the slats on your base is greater than 3 inches we would recommend boarding them over with MDF or Plywood.  This is because your mattress will settle into these gaps causing it to feel lumpy where it dips and this can damage your mattress.
