Sequence Pocket questions

Hi John Hi Ryan I am interested in buying a ‘sequence pocket suspension’ double mattress as detailed here in your site. It sounds fantastic. Could you tell me if it will be OK to place it on my new wooden Sprung slat base. I am totally confused by all the mattress choice on the market. I am 10 1/2 stone and my husband is 13 1/2 stone. We both have bad backs his is a disc problem, mine is a pelvis problem and we need good support but also good cushioning nothing that feeels too hard or does not have any ‘Give’ (hence why I have bought a sprung slatted base) Any advice will be greatly appreciated I have purchased a £200 latex foam mattress topper(7cm thick) which has helped improve an old mattress but not enough to be totally comfortable. Should I use it on a new mattress or would there be no need?

Hi Maura.

I think the Sequence Suspension may be a little on the firm side for you without any kind of topper. Ideal for your husband though. The use of the topper you already have will, of course, give you both the cushioning you require but also coupled with the support from the mattress.

Trying to revive an old mattress does not always work too well as it is quite likely the support from the old mattress has passed its sell-by date! It is fundamentally better to use it on a new mattress which not only gives you that additional layer of comfort but also acts as the ultimate mattress protector.

The Sequence Suspension is perfectly fine on your new slatted base. I would, however, add a cushioning layer [such as an old duvet or sheet of foam] directly on top of the slats to prevent them cutting into the upholstery on the underside of the mattress.

John and Ryan.
