Hi im going to purchase your artisan bespoke 002 in firm king-size. It will be going on a non sprung slatted base sleigh bed. I was thinking of putting it on some sort of cushioned base to slightly replicate sprung base and raise up a bit. Could you let me know what you think about putting it on top of IKEA moshult memory foam mattress. I have chosen this one as it’s only 10cm thick and will be recessed and not visable in the sleigh bed frame. It’s also very cheap. Do you think this would be alright or do you know of anything else that would suit.

Hi Mark,

With slatted bases, either sprung or flat, we always recommend placing some form of barrier between the slats and the mattress to avoid ridging occurring as a result of the mattress dipping into the gaps between the slats.

Your idea of using a 10cm memory foam mattress is as good as any and is likely to provide some additional softness although please be aware that the depth of the actual Artisan Bespoke 002 is in the region of 30cm. Please also be aware that the mattress will be around 60-70kg in weight and this together with the weight of the users, may mean that the memory foam may not last as long as the mattress.
