Please could you advise me on a good choice for our new mattress? Our present mattress is firm, 7 years old and is now causing me considerable upper back pain (between the shoulder blades).
I am 5’8″ , 13 stone and my husband is 5’10”, 17 stone. We are 48 and 50 and starting to ‘ache’ a little!
We both like Premier Inn beds (you must get fed up of hearing this!) and I think I’ve read that your Origins 1500 is very similar to them? However, we’d like to spend a little more to get a mattress with a longer guarantee period. We like the sound of the Artisan Naturals but we are concerned it may feel too soft/squidgy for us.
Please, please please, point us in the right direction!
Thanks for getting in touch. Sorry to hear you’re getting the aches from your firm mattress. To be honest its a very common complaint. The old adage of a firm mattress to help a bad back is absolute rubbish and actually makes the problem worse! The right tension for your body weight and necessary comfort layers is a much better guide. We would avoid the Premier Inn mattress as it features the dreaded pillow top. More on that here!
If you’re looking for the longer guarantee and lifespan, then the Artisan Naturals would be the preferred choice. It utilises vanadium coated calico pocket springs, the highest quality and there’s no better spring out there. That coupled with the huge GSM of natural upholstery make it our most popular model. We hardly ever have any in our Outlet as they rarely come back.
Please give us a call if you need further help Jo. We look forward to hearing back from you.
